100 Nights Since Graduation

Grace met me outside my office yesterday and we took the 1 train down to SoHo, where we had dinner at the Broome Street Bar and I took a gorgeous picture of our food that belongs on friggin' Instagram like hella much. And no, I'm not a hipster, why do you ask?
Stuart then met up with us.
What attractive friends, right?

Then we went to the Bubble Lounge, a few blocks south of there, for the 100 Nights Since Graduation party. It was very classy and very cool. But for the first hour or so we three were some of the only people there. So we called Jo and had a mini-reunion.

But around 8:45 a whole bunch of people showed up, and the basement of the Bubble Lounge got crowded! And we saw Irene!

I think this one is one of my favoritest pictures ever:

I would definitely go back!

Where in the world is Carmen SandieJo?

A lot of folks have been asking me about my good buddy and erstwhile housemate Jo Kim. "Hey, Jill," they say, "Where's your good buddy and erstwhile housemate Jo Kim?" And I'm afraid I have to respond that I don't know. I haven't been in touch with my good buddy and erstwhile housemate Jo Kim since graduation. "Ah, shucks," the folks say. "Goe figure."

Yes, Post-Jo life can be daunting. The memories haunt you, no matter where you go. No matter where he goes. Which brings me to just where he went.

You heard it here, folks: here's a rundown of the latest Jo-related rumors!

Honduras
Jo was in Honduras, spreading the Good Word and other things besides, with an entourage of quirky Vassar boys. All that I know about that trip I gleaned from this picture:
Yes, and after that I don't think I need to know any more.

Beddy-Bye
Stuart talked to Jo on the phone the other day. In the course of our now-regular email correspondence (we're biffles again--it's great) he reported that Jo goes to sleep at 8:30 every night. The shmucky bastard.

Live the Dream
This one's from a few months ago, but in the beginning of July a few of us had a Facebook thing going with updates, and I posted that I'd just gotten a job in NYC. This is what Jo wrote back to me:
Jill, great to hear you're living the dream, man! Everyone knows you gotta get owned for a while before you make it big in the City. Ha, ha, but even if you don't break through there, you'll always have a Korean-American in Utah you've broken through in your college days...
Yeah, I don't know what that last part means, but this was probably the best piece of encouragement I've gotten since I graduated.

Well, that's it for the Jo Roundup! Grace, Stuart and I will be meeting in NYC this Thursday night for the 100 Nights After Graduation party. No Utahans are expected to be in attendance. I'll post pictures when I can though. Because I just can't let this blog die.

Yumn Alung SUMMAH KICKAWF

REUNION BABY! Because after living together for almost a year, a two-week separation feels unbearable.

 "Whatchoo lookin' at, Barbara?"

Probably my favorite picture from the evening: the paparazzi shot of all-star couple T.A. and Gracie Lee

Stuart danced up a storm. He was the undisputed king of the dance floor...

Until a challenge came from the most unlikely of contenders!

WE'RE ALUMS NOW DOES THAT MEAN I HAVE TO TAG EVERY SUBSEQUENT POST WITH THE ALUM TAG WEEEEIRRRRD

miniREUNION

There has been confirmation of 3/4 TA37 residents attending the upcoming Summer kick-off. What this really means is that Jo is the smartest of us all. He will not be wasting his $10 to attend an evening of light (probably sweaty cheese cubes) refreshments and a cash bar. So not only do we "donate" money to our Alma Mater but we are then expected to pay for the booze. Wasn't the four years of tuition and miscellaneous fees enough to pay for a lifetime of open bars?   I mean a poorly calculated average of $224,000 (well that's the sticker price, at least) must not go far now a days.
And as part of the young alum, we get to mingle with people from 12 years back. I mean, yea we aren't going to have a freaking clue who these people are. We were just let go into the real world, we are lost sheep. Maybe this will work to our advantage, or maybe it won't. And to be completely honest, a month out, what do we really have to talk about in our lives. Job success? Love success? I think all of the above is something hardly worth bragging about. But I will brag about my new found love for blogging and the blog itself. I just read every prior post and having an external memory bank is wonderful. Cheers to young alumni and the internet. Without them, the world would be less young and more banal.

The Sad Truth....

is that I still have more copies of Anna Karenina than I do housemates, and more than I see people on campus in a day.

Cheers,

:)

Fun Times in Graceland

This is like the postscript to graduation: on Monday, May 21, Jo, Chelsea and I visited Grace's house.

First we watched Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Which was either a great idea or a really really bad one.

Then a really great moment happened. We were hanging around Grace's house, laughing and talking, and laughing at Jo, and making fun of Jo, and at one point Jo, having been shut down once again, exclaimed "Oh! This is why I don't hang out with you three at the same time!"

Annnd then noraebang! Good thing we had all been working on our articulation beforehand!

The next day we woke up late--though not that late. I think the others really enjoyed being awoken by my alarm clock. Anyway, after we escorted Grace to a dentist's appointment a la News Channel 4  we had SUUUUPER YUMMY jja jung myun!!

Then Jo and Grace saw me and Chelsea off. I drove her to the subway so she could go back to Vassar, and then I went home.

I looooooove you guys!
