Here's how it happened.
Yesterday evening, Grace, Stuart, Jo and I walked from the TAs through the back road by Kenyon to the store across the main road to get some ice cream. We sat outside for a while, talking, and licking, and talking about licking. Bonus points if you can guess which Pokemon came up during that conversation!
Anyway, before we knew it, it was almost 11pm, time to head back home to TA37. We made it back across the main road without incident, but once we started walking down the dark back road to campus (you know the one), that's when it got real.
It was, as I say, quite dark, so when we heard a car coming up behind us we all jumped off the road. Grace, in particular, did a sort of nervous jig, seized Jo's arm, and dragged him to safety at the edge of the road.
The car slowed, stopped next to us. It was a police car. State trooper. The window rolled down.
We couldn't see into the car because there was a light shining from the side of the car into our eyes, but from the depths of the darkness within, we saw the police officer's shadowy silhouette lean forward and ask us, in that slightly sarcastic and judgmental way that police officers have: "What are we doing?"
Okay, let's pause for a moment. Let me paint the scene. I'm wearing an orange peasant skirt and a Vassar sweatshirt, Stuart's wearing a blue-and-white striped sweater, Grace is wearing skinny jeans and bright red glasses, and Jo, in his "Aeropostale" shirt and corduroys, is the sketchiest among us. I don't mean to profile, but after one look at Grace's glasses alone, we probably didn't even have to show him our Vassar IDs.
The officer had bidden us good night and pulled away in less than a minute, and we were safely back in TA37 hardly five minutes thereafter. The end! ...What? Were you expecting a more interesting story? Well, you're reading the wrong blog, friends. This is how we roll in TA37.

Words of Wisdom
Stuart waxes philosophic about the transitory nature of life at a four-year university.
I'VE GOT IT CORNERED!!!!
Never fear, fair friends--TA37 has survived Hurricane Irene! We've also survived Korean dramas. I'm still not sure which is worse.
We went for a walk this afternoon after the storm abated, and encountered all sorts of wildlife! First, a baby snapping turtle:
He was so cute. And look, he almost blended in perfectly with the asphalt! Fearing indiscriminate tire wheels, we moved the turtle (whom Stuart inexplicably christened 'Chugims') to the lake.
Walking around the lake, we found a pubescent frog. We knew it was a teenager because it still had a tail, and because you could just feel the waves of angst rolling off its oily green-and-brown skin.
"This hurricane is nothing compared to the tempest in my amphibian soul..."
Later, we went to a TA pizza party that was thrown because of the hurricane. On the way, we ran into a womp-womp, which Jo managed to corner against the TAs:
"I've got it cornered!!!" he howled.
But Jo didn't have the heart to truly harm the womp-womp. As he explained to us later, the cornered womp-womp just looked at him with this expression:
It was awesome seeing old friends at the TA pizza party! Now we're all back at good old 37, with a few visitors and friends, and it seems we're having a Netflix party for the rest of the evening. Ain't no party like a TA-Pizza-Hurricane-Irene-Netflix party!

Red Ribbon of Love...
So the last 20 minutes have been straight up bickering back and forth about... this blog. After I asked where the "red ribbon of love" came from and why it perpetually follows the TV and Wii around wherever they live, Stuart claimed that it came from Jill's house and then Jill said it was from the box of Stuart's Wii wires. Stuart told Jill to do something with and Jill said something rather rude. Well.
Stuart posted what Jill said on this blog, but it was out of context and as a result not funny. Jill asked him to take it down and he refused. Then Jill revoked Stuart's admin privileges, and then after she restored him, Stuart revoked Jill's admin privileges. It got ugly.
Kitchy Pics
This is Scott before he got his couch-meat on him. Not very comfortable. Notice Stuart's 'art' on the table behind it.
My first baking attempt--banana bread! There were some lumps of baking soda, though. But not bad for a first attempt, I think!!!
Hanging above the sink is our motto for the year: "People need loving the most when they deserve it the least."
We have only the finest kitchen appliances!

Let there be light!
Whew. It's been a busy few days. Yesterday, Stuart, Grace and I went to Target to buy house things. Jo was off tabling for the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life, and he still doesn't have a house key to the TA, so we tried to find him, but we gave up after a few halfhearted attempts, figuring he'd find a way to amuse himself until we got back.
Target was an adventure. Stuart was in a mood. We were all in 'moods,' actually. You'd have thought we'd all overdosed on Super B-Complex Vitamins, if you know what I mean.
For when a regular B-complex doesn't suffice.
When we got back that evening, we found Jo and began setting up the new lights we had bought for the rather dark TA living room. Jo, however, took umbrage at our presumption in not consulting with him before making our purchase. Insisting that he was perfectly fine with dark rooms and that $7-lamps from Target were an unnecessary extravagance, he thereby initiated what may be considered our first financial domestic tiff. We managed to put aside our disagreements, however, for the sake of moving the couches, Scott and Paolo, into the house. Getting Paolo up the TA stairs was quite an ordeal! But now our living room looks lovely, with two couches, two lamps, and a TV with the Wii all hooked up.
Last night we celebrated our new living room by watching the second episode of Boys Before Flowers! Jo and Stuart love it. Grace and I hate it. At least it's an opportunity to learn a bit of Korean. And discuss cute boys :)
My favorite is Joseph Gordon-Levitt:
Well, I think he's got a different name, but he looks like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, doesn't he?
Jo and Stuart like Ginger (that's her real name) although they assure us that prettier girls are coming later in he show.
And there's a character named Ji-Hoo, but we think he looks and acts like Tian An:
And finally, there's another boy who seems to say nothing besides "Yo yo yo!" in a Korean accent. He's clearly the Ringo of the series:
Well, anyway, this morning was the Bagel Brunch with the Freshmen, and now we've just had fried rice for lunch courtesy of Michelle, who got it from the International Students' picnic the other day. I think tonight the four of us will have dinner all together for the first time!

Feeling very accomplished!
Just wanted to note that Grace, Michelle and I went food shopping just now and we feel very accomplished! Can't wait for our parents to come and see our digs!

Quotes from last night
Well, Jo got here last night, with S., L, and J. It was quite fun times--massages all around and lots of muscle-flexing on Jo's part. After the others left, however, and it was just Sto the Grill and T.A. in the TA, the discussion got a bit heated.
The biggest deal was the argument about whether the boys would be responsible for putting the toilet seat down again or whether the girls should do it as necessary. Needless to say, we were split evenly between the four of us on our opinion concerning that.
Stuart: The toilet seat moves in two directions--you can't say one is right and one is wrong.
Then the conversation moved to cleaning in general. Again, I'll quote my dear friend Stuart: I just think that we shouldn't have to clean. Then Jo began to tell us about the bathroom in his basement at home that he shares with his brothers. He insists he never cleaned it, and that it was still perfectly fine. This lead to an argument about anal cysts that I don't want to think about.
Finally, the discussion turned to food. We've got one vegetarian, one semi-vegan, and one affirmed meat eater in the house. Grace, who self-identifies as a "flexible omnivore" is going to be the easiest one to please, apparently. Jo then drew out a menu of all the food he'll be eating--for the year.

Hello World!
Day one of moving into TA37! Stuart, Grace and I are here now. Jo gets here tonight. Stuart's been here for a few days now. When he arrived there was no toilet paper in the house. Until Grace and I got here today, Stuart was walking to Main every time nature called. Excellent start!
We've spent most of the afternoon setting up the kitchen and arguing about what goes where. I am determined to keep my "tea and candy drawer" in the kitchen island.
Oh, Tian An's here too! T.A. in our TA :)
Now we're having a conversation about the bathroom that I don't feel like recording. It's going to be a great year!
EDIT: Stuart has already mixed up Grace and my names multiple times :) And now we're arguing about communal soap. Should we have it? Should we not? And what brand/type/size/scent should we get?
EDIT: "Everyone's blaming all the stink on me. Wait 'till Jo gets here." -Stuart
